Suns coach Hardwick met with Martin to discuss his AFL future.
Gold Coast Suns coach Stuart Hardwick has met with out-of-contract forward Mabior Chol to discuss his future at the AFL club.
Chol, 28, is a free agent at the end of the season and has been linked with a move to several other clubs, including Collingwood and Essendon.
Hardwick said he was hopeful of keeping Chol at the Suns, but admitted that the club would not stand in his way if he wanted to leave.
"We've had a good chat and we're both on the same page," Hardwick said.
"Mabior is a valuable player for us and we'd love to keep him at the club.
"But we also understand that he's a free agent and he has to make the best decision for himself and his family.
"If he decides to leave, we'll wish him all the best and thank him for his contribution to the Suns.
Chol has played 112 games for the Suns since making his debut in 2016.
He has kicked 126 goals for the club, including a career-high 35 in 2020.
Chol has been a key player for the Suns in recent seasons, forming a dangerous partnership with fellow forward Ben King.
He is also a strong leader at the club and has been praised for his work ethic and professionalism.
The Suns are keen to keep Chol at the club, but they are also aware that he is a free agent and could leave if he wants to.
Hardwick said he would not stand in Chol's way if he wanted to leave.
"We're not going to hold him against his will," Hardwick said.
"If he decides to leave, we'll wish him all the best and thank him for his contribution to the Suns.
"But we're hopeful that he'll stay and continue to be a key player for us in the years to come.
