Biscuit Basin Geyser Trail Reopens for Public Access

Extensive Loop Trail Offers Scenic Views and Hydrothermal Features

Easy Accessibility and Stunning Attractions

Yellowstone National Park is pleased to announce the reopening of the popular Biscuit Basin Geyser Trail to the public. This 0.6-mile (1 km) lollipop loop boardwalk trail provides a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating hydrothermal features of the basin.

Named after the peculiar biscuit-shaped deposits that were once found here, Biscuit Basin is located 35 miles south of the Midway Geyser Basin and 55 miles south of the Fountain Paint Pot Trail. The well-maintained trail leads visitors past mesmerizing features like Sapphire, a sapphire-blue hot spring, and the Mystic Falls, which offer stunning views of the vibrant basin.

The loop trail also includes an overlook and a peak that reaches approximately 7800 feet, providing panoramic vistas of the surrounding area. While the Mystic Falls and Biscuit Basin Overlook sections are considered easier, the remaining trail requires some effort to traverse.

Conveniently situated just three miles north of Old Faithful, Biscuit Basin is easily accessible for visitors. The 11-km circular trail is generally considered easy and can be completed in an average of 14 minutes, making it an ideal option for all experience levels.
